Mum’s Words

These words were shared by Mum on 23 October 2006 to be read out at her funeral.

“My dearest family, friends and colleagues the 9th September  came like a bolt out of the blue. None of us could predict what would follow.
To my colleagues in Doncaster, Wakefield and Rotherham working with you has been a privilege and your thoughts a real comfort.

To my special friend Margaret, you have been my mentor for over 20 years,  words cannot express how I value your support and guidance.

To my best friend Sue, who has been there for the majority of my life, we have been together through thick and thin. It must have been a true friendship to last so long, please keep a watchful eye on Joanne in your Godmother role.

To my family, first June and John, you June are the closest anyone could have had to a sister. I thank you both for your support over the years and I am grateful for your help particularly with Mum.

To Mum and Dad, no one could have been surrounded by more love than you gave to me, such a sure base from which to grow up. I love you both dearly.

To Paul, I am so proud of you and all your achievements, never doubt yourself or that I am proud of you. I have every confidence in you. Paul I love you so much.

To Joanne, I am so proud of you and your achievements, always remember to strive for balance in your life, do not plan far ahead, it will happen for you. I have every confidence in you. Joanne I love you so much.

To Mick, you have been my one and only love for over 40 years, we have been through good times and bad times but survived. I thank you for your love and compassion until the very end. I love you.

To everyone, I have no regrets about my life at all. I know I had to work to achieve, things did not come easy but my life has been very fulfilling and I completed my major goals, with the exception of a long retirement with Mick.

All of you take good care of yourselves, enjoy life at this minute, as we do not know what is round the corner.”

God Bless   Jean Nicholson
